CAD/CAM technology

CAD/CAM has revolutionised our laboratory in Northwich with its amazing capability and versatility. It uses digital scanning technology to aid the creation of modern dental cosmetic restorations.

  • Money saved

  • Patient satisfaction

Why CAD/CAM?

By making 3-D images, our technicians are able to take the dimensions of your teeth and use a milling unit on porcelain to produce a custom-made restoration that is perfectly sized and shaped to fit. The final design is uploaded to the Milling Centre in Leipzig where the order is milled and returned to our laboratory for cosmetic finishing. giving you an extremely strong, durable, and natural-looking restoration.

How does it work?

The software allows us to design any dental unit/units for our restorations, however complex they may be.

The laboratory SC2 Straumann Scanner is used with the Straumann Cares CAD/CAM System. This is an open system that uses the Straumann Milling Centre in Leipzig. If you would like more information please contact us at Denture Clinic Northwich.

Our CAD/CAM facilities allow us as to design and produce Implant retained  dentures using retention bars and special attachments. The clinical aspect must be done in conjunction with a dental surgeon and by prescription.

In 2002, 24-25 May, a Symposium was held at McGill University , Montreal, Canada where fifteen clinicians and expert clinicians discussed the efficacy of overdentures for the treatment of edentulous patients. Mandibular two Implant retained dentures were compared to conventional lower dentures in randomized trials. They concluded that there was overwhelming evidence that 2-implant overdentures should become first choice for the edentulous mandible.
